This article briefly explains how you can use Zapier to post new job vacancies in specific Slack channels.

What you'll need

  1. An account on Zapier

  2. An RSS feed to your jobs (ask us and we'll send it over)

Step 1 - Setting up the Trigger

Create a Zap, give it a name and search for "RSS by Zapier" as App Event

Select "New Item in Feed" as Trigger Event and Continue.

Paste in your Jobylon feed and Continue (you can leave the other fields as is).

After continuing, you can now test your trigger and should get a success message. If so, hit Continue to go to the next step.

Step 2 - Setting up the Action

Ok great, halfway there! Now that we've set up the trigger, it's time to setup the action, i.e Post on Slack πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

Search for and select Slack as "App Event" and Continue

Select "Send Channel Message" as Action Event (assuming that's what you want to do).

You'll now be asked to connect your Slack account and select it. You'll need to have the right Slack permissions for this part.

When the account is created, it's time to set up the action. The fields you should set up are the ones that can be seen in the image and described below. However - feel free to play around with the other settings as well.

Channel
Select the channel you want to post to

Message Text

Compose the message you'd like your post to have. You can insert Data from the feed (such as job title, link to the ad, etc) and use Slack's formatting options to create a nicer message.

For ex if you want to make text into link, simply enter your link in the following format into the text field:

<http://www.zapier.com|Text to make into a link>

Send As a Bot?

Should be Yes if you don't want updates to be sent from your name / user.

Bot Name

Give your Bot a name, you choose!

Bot Icon

And why not an icon? πŸ€–

Include A Link To This Zap?

We recommend "No" as it results in a nicer looking message.

Continue when you're done and you will now be able to Test your Zap before saving and activating it.

If all good, a Slack update should be posted to your channel πŸŽ‰

That's it! You can now turn your Zap On and Zapier will take care of the rest.
